As we all know, photography is all about light. And that's still true, even when you're shooting macro. The R1C1 is an incredibly flexible flash system which makes macro flash lighting easy, insofar as it can ever be easy. It's compatible with all the Nikon macro lenses which we stock.

The kit has a huge number of bits and pieces which give it this flexibility:

• wireless Speedlight Commander (the thing on the top of the camera in the picture)
• attachment ring (the thing on the front of the lens in the picture) with 12 positioning slots
• 2x wireless remote Speedlight (the things either side of the lens in the picture)
• set of 5 rings to allow mounting to different size lenses (58mm, 62mm, 67mm, 72mm, 77mm)
• set of coloured gel filters for each Speedlight
• close-up positioning adapter for each Speedlight
• stand for each Speedlight, for off-camera lighting
• diffuser and flexible arm with clamps

The kit contains 28 components in total! - not counting the very nice carrying case in which it's supplied. So you need to be the kind of person who counts all the bits out and counts them all back, because we wouldn't be wildly pleased if you lost some of them. (We do of course provide a list of them, and a diagram to show you what's what and how it all fits into the case.) It's also definitely a good idea to at least take a look at the manual.

But once you've got it all assembled, it's surprisingly easy to use, and the results can be spectacular.
