This is a very decent little lens, with the emphasis on 'little'.It's very compact and lightweight.That makes a pleasant change from all those huge f/2.8 lenses and could be really handy if you want a good landscape lens to take on your travels.

Tests show that it's a very sharp lens which delivers contrasty images in most situations.If you have a full-frame (FX or film) camera and you're shooting wide-open, then you'll need to watch what you put in the corners of the frame.But for DX camera users, or landscape photographers who use the lens stopped down, there's nothing to worry about here.

Overall it's not as good as the AF-S 17-35mm f/2.8, but then for barely a third of the price you wouldn't expect it to be.This one beats the 17-35 hands down for size, weight, and price.

COMPATIBILITY NOTE: This is not an AF-S lens. It will not autofocus on the D40/D40x/D60 and D3000/D5000 cameras.
