This lens is without doubt one of the best wide angle zooms available today. It is a recent upgrade to the original 16-35mm f/2.8 L; it's longer, wider, heavier, and pricier, but it does deliver better image quality - which was presumably the whole point. Sharpness at the edges and corners has been noticeably improved compared with the Mark I version of the lens, and this will be particularly noticeable to users of full-frame cameras.

The 16-35 "L" is nearly as sharp as most prime lenses, and provides the convenience of a zoom. It’s a favourite of wedding photographers and others who work in less than bright light. Also a wonderful landscape and a good indoor lens.
